英語の物語が大好きだった、一人の少女

エリカさんは、小さい頃から英語で書かれた小説を読むことが大好きでした。

いつしか、「いつか自分も世界中の人に読んでもらえる物語を書いてみたい。」
そんな夢を抱くようになります。

郁文館グローバル高校へ入学後も、その想いは心の中にあり続けていました。
しかし、長編小説（英米文学ファンタジー）を一冊書き上げることは決して簡単なことではありません。

思うように筆が進まない日々。
「本当に自分にできるのだろうか。」
何度も壁にぶつかり、一度は執筆を諦めようとしたこともありました。

夢７原則が、夢を「目標」に変えた

そんな彼女を支えたのが、郁文館の夢教育です。

郁文館では、「夢は願うものではなく、実現するもの」という考えのもと、一人ひとりが自分の夢を言葉にし、期限を決め、計画を立て、挑戦を続ける文化があります。
エリカさんも、夢教育で学ぶ「夢７原則」を実践しながら、自分自身の夢と向き合いました。

夢を具体的な目標へ落とし込み、いつまでに実現するのかを決め、そのために今何をすべきかを考え続ける。
そして、毎年開催される「夢の日」では、自らの夢を仲間や先生の前で宣言しました。

途中で心が折れそうになることもありましたが、先生や仲間が何度も背中を押し、「最後まで諦めない」という想いを支え続けました。
その積み重ねが、今回の出版という夢の実現につながりました。

夢の実現は、「出版」で終わらない

今回の書籍出版は、ゴールではありません。
エリカさんは現在、「世界中で本書を販売し、10月までに1,000人へこの作品を届ける」という新たな目標に挑戦しています。
作品を書くだけではなく、自ら多くの人へ届け、読者とつながるところまでが今回の挑戦です。

郁文館が育てたいのは、「夢を実現する主人公」

郁文館の夢教育は、単に将来の夢を描かせるだけの教育ではありません。

自ら考え、挑戦し、失敗を乗り越え、周囲に支えられながら成長し、最後までやり抜く。

IGHS Student Erika Watanabe to Publish Her Debut Novel

Ikubunkan Global High School student Erika Watanabe will make her debut as an author with the publication of her original English-language fantasy novel, BORN TO BURN: IGNIVOMOUS, scheduled for release on July 19, 2026.

A Girl Who Fell in Love with Stories

From an early age, Erika loved reading novels written in English.

As she immersed herself in countless stories, she began to dream:
“One day, I want to write a story that readers around the world will enjoy.”

That dream stayed with her after she enrolled at Ikubunkan Global High School.
However, writing a full-length English fantasy novel was far more challenging than she had imagined.

There were many days when the words simply would not come.
She often questioned herself:
“Can I really do this?”
After encountering countless obstacles, she even considered giving up on her dream.

Turning a Dream into a Goal

What helped Erika continue her journey was Ikubunkan’s Dream Education.

At Ikubunkan, students are encouraged to see dreams not as wishes, but as goals to be achieved. They learn to define their dreams, set deadlines, create action plans, and continue taking meaningful steps toward them.
By putting the school’s “Seven Principles of Dream Achievement” into practice, Erika transformed her dream into a concrete goal.

She clarified what she wanted to accomplish, set a timeline, and continuously reflected on what she needed to do next.
Each year, during Ikubunkan’s annual Dream Day, she publicly declared her dream in front of her classmates and teachers.

There were moments when she felt like giving up, but the encouragement of her teachers and friends inspired her to keep moving forward.
Step by step, those efforts eventually led to the publication of her first novel.

The Journey Doesn’t End with Publication

Publishing her book is not the finish line.
Erika has already set her next goal: to make her novel available around the world and reach 1,000 readers by October.
For her, success is not simply writing a book, it is sharing it with readers, connecting with people, and bringing her story into the world.

Raising Students Who Turn Dreams into Reality

Dream Education at Ikubunkan is about far more than encouraging students to dream.

It is about helping students think independently, embrace challenges, learn from setbacks, persevere with the support of others, and grow through the entire process.
Most importantly, it encourages students to become people who make a positive difference in the lives of others and earn countless “thank yous” through their actions.
